Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome on board the Seven Seas Explorer
This Italy cruise package departs from Civitavecchia near Rome in Italy, with boarding beginning in the morning to afternoon on day 1 of your cruise. Civitavecchia itself has much to delight you, being an historic port town with roots dating back to Etruscan times, such as the Forte Michelangelo, Terme Taurine and Cattedrale di San Francesco. There is also a wealth of Roman and Vatican architecture to enjoy, as well as fascinating museums. However, the nearby Eternal City of Rome is not to be missed so be sure to pre-arrange a day trip there before boarding the Explorer so you can admire the magnificence of iconic landmarks, such as the Colosseum and Roman Forum, and Vatican City with its magical Sistine Chapel.
Our recommended tours: We offer an exclusive selection of VIP tours of Rome, which can be enjoyed before boarding – simply click the “Tours & Land Excursions” tab at the top of the page for more information.

Day 2: Visit Tuscany’s Renaissance gems
On the first full day of your luxury Mediterranean cruise, you will stop at Livorno on Tuscany’s coast, where you will have a full day to explore. Livorno is an excellent base from which to discover some of our favourite towns and cities in Tuscany, such as Pisa, Lucca and Florence, and we can arrange a day trip to any of these cities as a part of your Italy cruise package so that you can simply relax and look forward to your Tuscan adventure. If you would prefer to discover the charming Tuscan atmosphere of Livorno, we highly recommend visiting the vibrant market and looking out for tasty cinque e cinque, which is a type of chickpea (garbanzo) pancake served in fresh focaccia with a spicy sauce.
Our recommended tours: We offer a range of day tours from Livorno. Choose from: a Day Tour to Pisa & Lucca with Wine Tasting, a Chianti Wine-tasting Experience or our Renaissance Walking Tour of Florence (with optional entry to the Accademia or Uffizi). To find out more, simply click the “Tours & Land Excursions” tab at the top of the page.

Day 3: Relax as the Regent Seven Seas Explorer cruises through the Tyrrhenian Sea
After leaving the Tuscan coast, the Explorer will cruise through the blissful waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea toward the stunning Amalfi Coast – one of Italy’s most exclusive holiday resorts. Whilst cruising, you can take advantage of the on-board facilities, such as the spa and fitness suite, or the duty-free boutiques. Regent Seven Seas also has a Club Mariner Youth Program for guests travelling with children or grandchildren, which offers the opportunity for everyone to experience the excitement of exploring the world in a meaningful and enriching way.

Day 4: Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Amalfi Coast
After a day at sea, today you will have time to explore the highlights of the glorious UNESCO-protected Amalfi Coast. The Explorer sits in the perfect location for you to discover two of this coastline’s most popular resorts: Amalfi and Positano. Both offer a relaxed atmosphere and idyllic sea views that will be sure to lull you into a state of complete relaxation. However, if you’re eager to discover the cultural treasures of this special place, then don’t miss Cathedral of Sant’Andrea, the church tower and the convent of the Cappuccini in Amalfi, and Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta in Positano, which features a majolica-tiled dome and a 13th-century Byzantine icon of the Virgin Mary.
Our recommended tours: We offer a range of day tours from Amalfi. Choose from: a Private Amalfi Coast Driving Tour, featuring the prettiest coastal towns, a Day Trip to Pompeii with VIP Tour or a Wine-tasting Experience in the Foothills of Mount Vesuvius – the region’s resident volcano. To find out more, simply click the “Tours & Land Excursions” tab at the top of the page.

Day 5: Marvel at Mount Etna in Taormina
After discovering the enticing beauty of Italy’s most exclusive stretch of coast, today you can explore the chic town of Taormina, which sits at the foothills of Mount Etna on the east coast of Sicily. The Explorer anchors in the bay of Giardini Naxos, allowing you to appreciate fantastic views of the UNESCO-protected natural site of Mount Etna and Taormina. It is just a short transfer to Taormina, where you can explore the fascinating attractions, such as the Duomo (Cathedral), Palazzo Corvaja, the Anglican Church of Saint George, the Church of San Domenico and the exquisite Baroque fountain. Alternatively, opt for one of our exclusive land excursions to see the wider region, including the epic Mount Etna.
Our recommended tour: We highly recommend enjoying our Mount Etna Wine-tasting Experience, featuring local wines produced from the Etna vineyards. Or for something a little more exhilarating, enjoy our Quad Bike Tour to the Etna Lava Fields. To find out more, simply click the “Tours & Land Excursions” tab at the top of the page.

Day 6: Soak up the atmosphere in Corfu
Today you will have a chance to appreciate the rich diversity of the Mediterranean as your cruise stops at Corfu – one of Greece’s most popular islands. Although known for its lush beauty and cosmopolitan atmosphere, Corfu has a turbulent history and there are several cultural museums that you can visit to learn more about the island and its eventual unification with modern Greece in 1864. If you would prefer to soak up the sun, there are plenty of pristine beaches to choose from and there are also some unbelievably pretty walking trails along the coastline for those that want to take in the natural sights, including sublime vistas of the sea.
Our recommended tour: We highly recommend enjoying our Corfu in a Day tour, which is a private experience that features the main attractions, including Archilleion. Or for something cultural, enjoy our Royal Palaces of Corfu experience, which is a small-group shore excursion featuring the Royal Palace of Corfu, Archilleion and Corfu’s UNESCO-protected Old Town. To find out more, simply click the “Tours & Land Excursions” tab at the top of the page.

Day 7: Explore the coastal delights of Kotor
On day 7 of your Mediterranean cruise package, you will visit Kotor in Montenegro. This historic Mediterranean port is surrounded by an impressive city wall built by the Republic of Venice, and the Venetian influence remains dominant among the architectural styles. Kotor and the surrounding region are UNESCO protected and the Explorer usually navigates close by the small islands of St George and Our Lady of the Reef, giving you the chance to admire the beautiful natural vistas that this special part of the world is known for before enjoying the delights in Kotor itself.
Our recommended tours: Note that Kotor is highly protected and so watersports are not available at the port; however, we offer a selection of land adventures for your to enjoy, such as our Flavours of Montenegro Food Tour to an olive farm, or our beautiful Boka Bay Tour, which gives you the chance to visit one of Montenegro’s most beautiful churches. To find out more, simply click the “Tours & Land Excursions” tab at the top of the page.

Day 8: Stroll along historic city walls in Dubrovnik
On day 8 of your Mediterranean adventure you can discover the vibrant city of Dubrovnik in Croatia, known locally as the Pearl of the Adriatic. The city is a UNESCO-protected site and has been since 1979, and boasts spectacular city walls, which are certainly a must-see as the main attraction. In fact, Dubrovnik is considered to be among the 10 best mediaeval walled cities in the world and we highly recommend wandering along the walls, where you will be rewarded with simply stunning views over the Old Town and the shimmering Adriatic Sea.
Our recommended tours: Whilst in Dubrovnik, you can enjoy our Buggy Safari with Views of the Srdj Hill or perhaps you would prefer our refined Dubrovnik Tour & Wine-tasting Experience. For fans of the TV and book series Game of Thrones, don’t miss our themed tour experience! To find out more, simply click the “Tours & Land Excursions” tab at the top of the page.

Day 9: See ancient castles in Rijeka
Your journey along the Croatian coast continues with a visit to Rijeka, which has a rich history and vibrant culture that is captivating. There are so many historic attractions to enjoy, such as Trsat Castle, which features magnificient views of Rijeka’s Old Town, or to learn more about Rijeka’s enticing past, take a trip to the Maritime and History Museum, which resides inside a former palace with a grand staircase and glittering chandeliers. We also highly recommend enjoying a stroll along the bustling Korzo Promenade, which is completely pedestrianised and is home to numerous bars and cafes where you can mingle with the locals.
Our recommended tours: On your last day in Croatia, you can enjoy our Highlights of Rijeka Walking Tour or perhaps you would prefer to discover the diverse flavours of Croatia with our Flavours of Rijeka food-tasting tour. To find out more, simply click the “Tours & Land Excursions” tab at the top of the page.

Day 10: Slip into serenity in the Floating City of Venice
On the last day of your Italy cruise package, you will stop at the magical city of Venice, which is one of Italy’s most popular and romantic holiday destinations. Here, you can enjoy the vibrancy of the Grand Canal, which is lined with decadent palaces that nod to Venice’s rich past, and marvel at the gondolas as they float by serenely. Venice has a wealth of attractions to enjoy and is the perfect place if you enjoy dynamic architecture – we highly recommend visiting Doge’s Palace, which is full of decadence and splendor, and don’t miss out on St Mark’s Square with its glorious Golden Basilica. And then there is the Rialto Bridge, as well as Venice’s hidden attractions, such as Teatro La Fenice and Scala del Bovolo. If you want to discover other delights in the Venetian Lagoon, we highly recommend taking a boat tour to Murano, Burano and Torcello, which are three islands nestled in the Venetian Lagoon where you can discover an authentic way of Venetian life and local crafts, including glass-blowing and lace-making.
Our recommended tours: The sublime attractions in Venice are not to be missed and our hand-selected shore excursions treat you to the top sights. For rich and varying architecture, opt for our Private Tour of Venice or, for something truly special and magical, treat yourself to a Private Gondola Ride of the Grand Canal.
