Day 2: Discover the French Provence region in Antibes Today, we have the pleasure of taking you to Antibes, located in the southeast of the French Provence region, where you can discover a charming culture and a wealth of historic attractions. Antibes is considered one of France’s oldest cities and was founded by the Greeks in the 5th century, when it was known as Antipolis. While docked at Antibes, don’t miss the fascinating Old Town, which is a maze of flower-lined cobbled streets and features a 16th-century rampart that overlooks the city. Day 7: Soak up the sun in Olbia After discovering the beautiful seascapes of Corsica, today you will have the oportunity to recline in the sunshine on the luxury island of Sardinia as your Silversea cruise stops at Olbia on the island’s north-east coast, not far from the exclusive resort of Costa Smeralda. Day 8: Welcome to Rome! On what will surely be a highlight of your Mediterranean cruise, today the Whisper will dock at Civitavecchia, which is an historic port town near Rome with roots dating back to Etruscan times. It has many intriguing attractions that you can enjoy, such as Forte Michelangelo, Terme Taurine and Cattedrale di San Francesco, and there is also a wealth of Roman and Vatican architecture to enjoy, as well as fascinating museums. However, being so close to the Eternal City, it would be a shame not to discover the many world-famous sights of Rome, including the iconic Colosseum and Roman Forum, as well as Vatican City, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.

Day 9: Wander through lemon groves in Sorrento Continuing your journey of discovery through Italy’s treasured resorts, today you explore the coastal delights on the south coast as the Silver Whisper anchors at the port town of Sorrento. This charming town is famous for its citrus groves – the lemons of which are used to make the Italian liqueur limoncello – and it is also the perfect base from which to explore the region. If you enjoy archaeology and ancient history, we highly recommend visiting Pompeii, which was lost for nearly 1500 years following a volcanic eruption in 79 AD. Today, it is considered one of the world’s most important archaeological sites, where you can see how people lived so many years ago. Day 10: Absorb the charm of Sicilian culture in Palermo After seeing some of Italy’s most beautiful coastlines, today you can kick-back and enjoy an altogether different pace of life in the laidback city of Palermo, which is Sicily’s capital. The city sits on the west coast of the island and is known for its refined architecture, including particularly intriguing examples of Baroque architecture, such as Quattro Canti with its four fountains. Day 11: Marvel at Mount Etna in Taormina After discovering the enticing beauty of Sicily’s capital, today you can explore the chic town of Taormina, which sits at the foothills of Mount Etna on the east coast of Sicily. Antibes is considered one of France’s oldest cities and was founded by the Greeks in the 5th century, when it was known as Antipolis. While docked at Antibes, don’t miss the fascinating Old Town, which is a maze of flower-lined cobbled streets and features a 16th-century rampart that overlooks the city. However, if you would prefer to relax and take in stunning sea views, head to Juan les Pins, which is a famous beach resort and the host of the International Jazz Festival.
There are few resorts in Europe quite as exclusive as Portofino, which is a luxury holiday destination known for its outstanding natural beauty, colourful villas and sparkling sea waters. Sitting on the Italian Riviera, here you can be sure of the most sublime sea vistas and you will have a full day here to relax and rejuvenate in the sun. If you would like to explore the village attractions, we recommend the Castello Brown Museum and the churches of St Martin, Oratorio di Nostra Signora Assunta and St George – the latter contains some relics of saints that will intrigue those with an interest in spirituality and religion. However, if you would prefer something a little more active, stop by the Portofino Marine Park, where you can enjoy snorkeling and perhaps even see the underwater statue of the Christ of the Abyss.

At the mid-point of your luxury Mediterranean cruise you will be treated to a visit to Porto Vecchio in Corsica – that glorious island in the Haute-Corse department of France. Porto Vecchio is a medium-size port city and the perfect place from which to discover the delights of Corsica, including the Lavezzi Islands. After discovering the beautiful seascapes of Corsica, today you will have the oportunity to recline in the sunshine on the luxury island of Sardinia as your Silversea cruise stops at Olbia on the island’s north-east coast, not far from the exclusive resort of Costa Smeralda. Continuing your journey of discovery through Italy’s treasured resorts, today you explore the coastal delights on the south coast as the Silver Whisper anchors at the port town of Sorrento. This charming town is famous for its citrus groves – the lemons of which are used to make the Italian liqueur limoncello – and it is also the perfect base from which to explore the region. If you enjoy archaeology and ancient history, we highly recommend visiting Pompeii, which was lost for nearly 1500 years following a volcanic eruption in 79 AD. Today, it is considered one of the world’s most important archaeological sites, where you can see how people lived so many years ago. If you would prefer to explore the natural attractions, we recommend visiting the island of Capri, which is known as the Pearl of the Mediterranean. It is a vibrant island with plenty of boutique stores to enjoy, as well as pretty Mediterranean gardens, magical sea caves (don’t miss the Blue Grotto) and unusual natural rock formations, making this tranquil island the perfect place no matter what your interests!
After seeing some of Italy’s most beautiful coastlines, today you can kick-back and enjoy an altogether different pace of life in the laidback city of Palermo, which is Sicily’s capital. The city sits on the west coast of the island and is known for its refined architecture, including particularly intriguing examples of Baroque architecture, such as Quattro Canti with its four fountains. Palermo also boast a number of enriching museums and we highly recommend visiting Palazzo dei Normanni, as well as Zisa, which houses a collection of Islamic art and local artifacts.
After discovering the enticing beauty of Sicily’s capital, today you can explore the chic town of Taormina, which sits at the foothills of Mount Etna on the east coast of Sicily. The Whisper anchors in the bay of Giardini Naxos, allowing you to appreciate fantastic views of the UNESCO-protected natural site of Mount Etna and Taormina. It is just a short transfer to Taormina, where you can explore the fascinating attractions, such as the Duomo (Cathedral), Palazzo Corvaja, the Anglican Church of Saint George, the Church of San Domenico and the exquisite Baroque fountain. The next stop on this diverse cruise of the Mediterranean is Malta’s capital: Valletta. The city is a UNESCO-protected site and has been since 1979, and boasts spectacular city walls, which are certainly a must-see as the main attraction. In fact, Dubrovnik is considered to be among the 10 best mediaeval walled cities in the world and we highly recommend wandering along the walls, where you will be rewarded with simply stunning views over the Old Town and the shimmering Adriatic Sea.
On the last day of your Italy cruise package, you will stop at the magical city of Venice, which is one of Italy’s most popular and romantic holiday destinations. Here, you can enjoy the vibrancy of the Grand Canal, which is lined with decadent palaces that nod to Venice’s rich past, and marvel at the gondolas as they float by serenely.
